Review and Giveaway: Unwanted Star by Melissa Brown

It’s funny how the tiniest of things can change your life… an invitation, a simple kiss goodnight, a matchbook…

Auden Kelly is in need of a change.

She’s trading in her nine-to-five sales job for the adventure of a lifetime: a one year contract with a European tour company.

For one full year, Auden will get paid to see the world. What could be better? Her brother gives her a journal, instructing her to document all of her adventures as she travels from country to country. And that’s exactly what she does.

When a mysterious stranger enters her life, however, everything changes: her expectations, her priorities and her view of the world. And nothing for Auden will ever be the same.

Note: Although these books are part of a series, they do not need to be read in order.

Unwanted Stars is an incredibly sweet love story about self-discovery. It is the perfect book to just take you away from life and put a smile on your face. It is not complicated with angst and dark secrets. It is a simple love story between two people after a chance meeting.

Auden is on a path to finding herself, and boy does she. She takes a job across the world to travel and see things she only dreamed about. What she doesn’t expect to find is a set of mesmerizing eyes, pinned in her direction after only being in on foreign land for a short time.

Campbell, oh, Campbell! A hot guy who can charm the pants off of any girl. He made me fall in love with the idea of love. Armed with looks, brains, personality, a sexy accent and the ever so handy matchbook, every time he said something, I got giddy. It was almost like I was falling in love for the first time in my life.

Auden, the heroine, was another story unfortunately. I tried to relate to her, but just couldn’t. Don’t get me wrong, there were times I was cheering her on or times my heart ached for what she was going through, but she continually disappointed me with her reactions. I craved her to be more loving with Campbell, but the the delivery fell short… As stated in the beginning though she’s the dramatic one in her family, which is proven time and time.

At times it could become a little slow moving and I wished there was a bit more character dialogue, but all in all, it’s a good easy read with a hot hero that will make you swoon with his antics to weave into Auden’s heart.
