Hemingway has spent her life trying to earn love she was never going to get. Not capable of earning the love of her mom, she found what she thought was a lifelong love, until it wasn't. When she meets Max, the new drummer in her brothers' band, she just might find that love she has been searching her whole life for.
No stranger to pain and heartache. Max has learned from his past, that when you find someone worthy of your love, you give it all. Losing his mom at a young age showed him how fragile life is. He lives life with as few regrets as possible, and when he wants something he fights with all he has to get it.
Hemingway doesn't stand a chance against the force that is Max's love and devotion, not that she would want to.
Will Hemingway be able to move on from her past and open her heart up to love? Will Max be the one to show her the way? Or will they give up and move on when Hemingway is forced to confront her past head on?
Streaks of sunshine coming through the partially-closed blinds wakes me. It must be a bit early; my alarm hasn’t gone off yet. Stretching, I realize I haven’t slept that well in years. In fact, I can’t even remember the last time I slept that well as all.
Climbing out of bed, I make quick use of the bathroom, washing my face and finding a spare toothbrush. Walking down the hall, I smell bacon and coffee.
“Morning, Max.” I practically sing as I grab for a coffee mug and fill it with liquid heaven.
“Morning, Hemi. Sleep well?” He hands me a plate piled with bacon, eggs, and waffles.
“I did. Think I can bet you out of your bed again tonight?” I ask, before taking a bite of the waffles. Letting out a soft moan, I chew the waffle slowly. “Oh God, can I just marry you now so you can make me breakfast every day?” When he doesn’t answer, I look up to see him staring at me with that same look of desire he had yesterday.
“Baby, you can marry me right now, but I get to sleep in that bed with you tonight.” I hadn’t realized he was moving closer until I feel the last word whispered across my lips. The sound of a throat clearing behind me has us jumping apart. I turn to see Jayden staring at us with a weird look. It’s almost a combination of discomfort, anger, and confusion.
“You better not let her brothers catch you that close to her, the last guy that got that close got beat pretty bad.”
